Missouri Department of Corrections institutions statewide hold people committed to state prison. No adult MODOC institution was identified within Crawford County on the official institution address list. A Crawford County case can still produce a state-prison commitment, but the county jail’s release record then marks transfer out of local custody. It is not the state prison’s later community-release record.
After institutional custody, a person may move to parole or conditional release and remain under Department legal custody in the community. Search Active Missouri Release Status
Open the official MODOC Offender Web Search and read its scope statement before entering a name. The gateway searches active offenders, including probationers and parolees, and requires a visual verification code. It can therefore locate a person who physically left prison but remains under field supervision. It is not a historical search for everyone who once served a Missouri sentence.

The gateway’s verified active-only scope matters more than an assumed field. A no-result cannot prove final discharge because security, confidentiality, spelling, or identifier issues may also affect a search.

MODOC’s Sunshine Law page publishes compressed offender data nightly for people who are or have been supervised by the Department. Records can reach back to 1974, but MODOC warns about conversions, self-reported information, lag, completeness, and accuracy. One person may have many charge-specific rows, so a single completed row does not establish that every sentence ended.
Start with the MODOC master number. If it is unavailable, match the full name and date of birth conservatively. All-9, all-8, and all-6 date codes can be placeholders rather than real calendar events. Do not turn them into an inferred release date. The official historical database page also documents the dataset’s scope.
The nightly file is the official historical route when a fully discharged Crawford County offender no longer appears in the active search.

For a parole decision, use the Parole Board records route. For sentence and Department administration data, use the Office of Director route or Constituent Services. Missouri’s public-records response rules distinguish an agency’s timely action on a request from final production. Ask for an estimate, the earliest availability when delayed, segregable open portions, and a specific legal citation for any withholding.
Missouri Prison Release to Supervision
Parole is an order of the Missouri Parole Board, not a pardon or reduction of the court’s sentence. A parolee remains in Department legal custody under section 217.690. Conditional release also follows prison custody under a sentence structure set by Missouri law. Probation is different because a court may impose it without a state-prison stay.
